Planet Youth is based on the Icelandic Prevention Model, a proven approach to reducing alcohol, tobacco and drug use among young people and improving their wellbeing. Planet Youth empowers communities to work together to address the root causes of early substance use. The model’s whole-population approach aims to reduce the risk factors that increase the likelihood of early substance use, and most importantly, to strengthen the protective factors that can prevent it.
